Posh Virtual Receptionists alternatives and pricing
The short answer
Posh Virtual Receptionists starts at $65 a month plus $2.30 a minute with no minutes included. Bundles run $130 for 50 minutes, $215 for 100 and $420 for 200, and its terms round each call up to 60 seconds. PATLive and MAP Communications also sell live answering, Abby Connect mixes people and software, Smith.ai bills per call, and CoveDesk is software our team runs.
Posh Virtual Receptionists prices evenly: from its 100-minute plan up, an extra minute costs what an included one does. It also bills for more than talk time. Here’s what the plans come to, where its pages differ on Spanish, how it lines up with CoveDesk, and who else to consider.
Updated November 3, 2026. CoveDesk is one of the services on this page; other companies’ prices and features are from their own websites, linked below.
Posh alternatives, by what you need
- PATLive: Lower bundle prices at 50, 100, 200 and 500 minutes, a 14-day trial, and after-call notes left off the bill. From $49/month: no minutes included, as published.
- Smith.ai: Charged by the call rather than the minute, so a long call costs the same as a quick one. From $0/month: 25 calls answered by software, as published.
- CoveDesk (that’s us): if you want calls picked up, missed callers texted, and your Google profile and website looked after, all set up and run for you. Not live receptionists. Front Desk is $249/mo with 250 minutes. Free 14-day pilot.
- MAP Communications: Extra minutes cost less than on any Posh plan, and English and Spanish are listed on every plan. Its terms add other fees, some without a published amount. From $49/month: no minutes included, as published.
- Abby Connect: A shared allowance where software time counts for half, with Spanish on both people and software and Jobber, ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro named. Higher prices per person minute. From $164/month: 50 Abby Minutes, as published.
- Ruby: People on every call with a 21-day refund for first-time users, terms Posh’s site doesn’t state. It costs more per minute. From $250/month: 50 receptionist minutes, as published.
- AnswerConnect: More minutes for the money from about 300 a month, plus an on-call calendar in its app. No plan under 200 minutes. From $350/month: 200 minutes, as published.

Its software plans (opens in a new tab) carry the same prices and share one total across software and live time. Past that total, live time is $2.20 down to $1.90 a minute and software time $1.10 down to $0.95, and a software call handed to a person bills both rates. The cost table counts live plans only.

Stay with Posh if
- You want to try it without a card. The trial runs 7 days or 250 receptionist minutes, with no credit card. CoveDesk’s free 14-day pilot starts with a talk with our team, since we set it up for you.
- You take only a handful of calls. Its own example puts 15 minutes at $99.50 before taxes on Chïc, with every feature included, and a person picks up. CoveDesk doesn’t have receptionists.
- Urgent calls should reach a technician on call. Its receptionists dispatch or message them by your rules, including after hours. Ours go to the owner, with no rotation yet.
- You’d like tasks done, not just calls answered. Receptionists book appointments and can place outbound calls with Task Assistant, drawn from your minutes. CoveDesk takes details for a callback.
What does rounding add to a small month at Posh?
Take 15 calls of 90 seconds each on Chïc, the $65.00 pay-as-you-go plan at $2.30 a minute:
- Talk time. 22.5 minutes, which would come to $116.75.
- As billed. Each call rounds up to 2 minutes, so 30 minutes: $134.00.
- On a credit card. Where the law allows, a 3.0% surcharge makes it $138.02. Debit and ACH have no surcharge.
That’s before taxes and any time a receptionist spends finishing up after a caller hangs up.
What the same month costs
Worked out from each company’s published list prices: the cheapest plan or plan plus extras that covers the month, lowest first at 250 minutes. For companies that bill by the call we count one call as 2.5 minutes, which is the ratio PATLive’s own pages use. These are our sums, not quotes, and they leave out tax and one-time fees.

Why owners look past Posh
- Each call rounds up to a full minute, and more than talk time counts. Its terms use 60-second increments and count time finishing your information after the hang-up. Its pricing page adds scheduling, follow-ups and messages. PATLive doesn’t bill after-call notes.
- “No other fees” leaves out card payments. Its pricing page says there are no other fees, while its terms add a 3.0% surcharge on credit cards where the law allows, not debit or ACH. Pay by ACH if you can.
- Vogue is a short stop. Chïc is cheaper only under about 28 minutes a month, and from about 89 minutes Elegant beats Vogue. Check your phone records before picking one of the smaller plans.
- Spanish hours vary by page. The pricing page includes bilingual receptionists on every plan. Its home-services page guarantees Spanish only on weekdays, 9am to 6pm Eastern, with other hours depending on who’s around.
- Job software isn’t on its list. Its integrations page names Zapier, Clio, HubSpot and others, but not Jobber, ServiceTitan or Housecall Pro. PATLive and Abby Connect name all three.
- A handed-off call can bill twice. On its software plans, once you’re past the included total, a call that software answers and passes to a person is charged at both rates.
Where CoveDesk is different
- Time is counted one way. Seconds on the phone are added up over the month, then rounded a single time. Posh’s terms round each call up to 60 seconds.
- A free pilot, then money back. CoveDesk offers a free 14-day pilot, then 30 days from your first plan payment to ask for a refund. Posh’s terms say subscription fees aren’t refunded.
- Same on setup. Neither lists a setup fee, and both do the setup work for you, so this one shouldn’t decide it.
- Other jobs handled. Missed-call texts sit inside Front Desk, and your Google profile and website can be run for you as extras or through Front Office.
- What you give up. Someone to take on tasks for you. A trained voice assistant answers after a short notice, with no calendar booking, Spanish or dispatch to technicians yet.
Switching from Posh
- Cancel in writing. Your plan renews monthly until it gets a written request, then ends on the last day of your billing cycle. Source: Posh’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Your number. You have no property rights in any number Posh assigns you, and it can change them. Forwarded numbers you already own and porting aren’t covered. Source: Posh’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Final bill. You pay unpaid fees through the end of the term, and subscription fees aren’t refunded. Source: Posh’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Coming back. Restarting a suspended account means a reconnect fee, in an amount it decides. Source: Posh’s terms (opens in a new tab)
Before you cancel anything, forward your calls to the new service and make three test calls of your own: a new customer, an urgent problem and a wrong number.
How we checked this
We make CoveDesk, so we’re not neutral, and this page isn’t a review. Everything about Posh comes from its own website, read on November 3, 2026, with the pages linked below. We haven’t bought its service, and we don’t quote ratings or anyone’s opinion as fact. Where we couldn’t find a fact, we say so instead of guessing, and “not mentioned” means not on the pages we read, which isn’t a search of its whole site.
