Abby Connect alternatives and pricing
The short answer
Abby Connect’s plans run from $164 a month for 50 Abby Minutes to $1,380 for 500, month to month. Extra minutes are $2.76 to $3.29 under its terms, which also bill ring time. A minute with a person uses one Abby Minute, and software uses half. PATLive and Ruby sell live receptionists, Smith.ai and Posh sell people plus software, and CoveDesk is a voice assistant we run for you.
Abby Connect sells one pool of minutes shared by people and software, and you choose which handles each kind of call. That means its prices take a little math to read. Here’s what an Abby Minute buys, the terms on its trial and refund, how it lines up with CoveDesk, and who else to look at.
Updated November 3, 2026. CoveDesk is one of the services on this page; other companies’ prices and features are from their own websites, linked below.
Abby Connect alternatives, by what you need
- Smith.ai: Also people and software, but billed by the call rather than from a shared pool of minutes, so call length doesn’t move your bill. From $0/month: 25 calls answered by software, as published.
- Ruby: Receptionists around the clock on every plan. It costs more a minute than Abby Connect. From $250/month: 50 receptionist minutes, as published.
- CoveDesk (that’s us): if you want calls picked up, missed callers texted, and your Google profile and website looked after, all set up and run for you. Not live receptionists. Front Desk is $249/mo with 250 minutes. Free 14-day pilot.
- AnswerConnect: Extra-minute rates on its plans page, lower prices from 200 minutes up, and an on-call calendar in its app. Spanish is a paid add-on. From $350/month: 200 minutes, as published.
- PATLive: Extra-minute rates on its pricing page, receptionists 24/7, a 14-day trial and named Jobber, ServiceTitan and Housecall Pro connections. From $49/month: no minutes included, as published.
- Posh: The same mix of people and software at lower published prices, and a trial with no card. A software call passed to a person can bill both rates once you’re past your included total. From $65.00/month: no minutes included, as published.
- Upfirst: Software only, billed by the call, with warm transfers on all plans and a 14-day trial with no card, if you’d mostly use Abby’s software side. From $24.95/month: 30 calls, as published.

Stay with Abby Connect if
- Some calls suit people and some suit software. You pick by call type, and a mixed call bills each part at its own rate. CoveDesk has no people to hand a call to.
- You dispatch from ServiceTitan. Its software offers open arrival windows from live ServiceTitan capacity, creates the job on the board, and can move or cancel it. CoveDesk has no job software connection or booking yet.
- Emergencies go to whoever’s on call. You decide what counts and who gets it at what hour, and Abby patches or pages them. CoveDesk reaches the owner, with no rotation yet.
- You need Spanish from both people and software. It’s on every plan at no extra cost. We don’t have it yet.
- You want both a trial and a refund window. It offers 14 days or 500 Abby Minutes free, plus a 22-day money-back guarantee for new clients. CoveDesk’s free 14-day pilot starts with a talk with our team, since we set it up for you.
Who answers at Abby Connect at night or on a holiday?
Its plumbing page describes 24/7 coverage and says you decide whether nights, weekends and holidays go to people, software or both. Its terms say the software voice agent and live chat run 24/7, that an account set up for 24/7 coverage runs every hour including holidays, and that standard human answering keeps these hours:
- Weekdays. People from 5am to 9pm Pacific, which is 8am to midnight Eastern.
- Weekends. People from 6am to 6pm Pacific.
- Seven holidays. No standard human answering on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
- Three holiday eves. Standard hours end at noon Pacific on Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
If you’re buying Abby Connect so a person picks up at 2am, ask how those calls are handled on your plan.
What the same month costs
Worked out from each company’s published list prices: the cheapest plan or plan plus extras that covers the month, lowest first at 250 minutes. For companies that bill by the call we count one call as 2.5 minutes, which is the ratio PATLive’s own pages use. These are our sums, not quotes, and they leave out tax and one-time fees.

Why owners look past Abby Connect
- Extra-minute rates are only in the terms. The pricing page gives no dollar figure. The terms list $3.29 on Starter and Essential, $2.99 on Professional and $2.76 on Growth, so ask for that page before you compare.
- The clock starts with the ring. Its terms bill ring, talk and transfer time, then round the total up to the nearest 30 seconds. PATLive, by contrast, doesn’t bill time waiting in its queue.
- The second plan doesn’t lower the rate. Essential is $329, which is $1 more than twice Starter for twice the minutes. With people answering, the rate only drops at 200 minutes, to about $3.00.
- The trial needs a card and can roll on. You enter a payment method up front with $0 due, and unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end, the plan continues month to month.
- Heavy months can change your plan. Past 1,000 Abby Minutes in a billing period, its terms let it move you to a custom Enterprise plan. Its example is 1,875 included minutes at $5,175 a month.
Where CoveDesk is different
- No conversions. CoveDesk minutes are just time on the phone: seconds totaled over the month and rounded once.
- Past the phone call. Missed-call texts come with Front Desk, and our team can run your Google profile and website as an extra or in the Front Office plan. Abby’s site doesn’t mention those.
- A longer refund window, no trial. You get 30 days’ money back and no free trial, where Abby Connect offers 22 days and a trial. Neither charges a setup fee.
- What you give up. Human receptionists, on-call paging, booking during the call, Spanish and job software connections. A trained voice assistant answers after a short notice and takes the details for you to call back.
Switching from Abby Connect
- 30 days’ notice. After your first 30 days of paid service, you need to give at least 30 days’ notice, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle in which it runs out. Fees aren’t prorated. Source: Abby Connect’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Numbers. Numbers it assigns stay its property, and numbers you ported in stay yours. To move one away your account must be in good standing, and an assigned number must be more than 30 days old. Source: Abby Connect’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Final bill. Extra minutes from your last month can be billed after you’ve left. Source: Abby Connect’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Late payment. A 5% late charge applies after 10 days, and service can be stopped after 30. Source: Abby Connect’s terms (opens in a new tab)
- Refunds. The terms offer new clients 22 days’ money back and also state a strict no-refund policy, without saying how the two fit. Get your case in writing. Source: Abby Connect’s terms (opens in a new tab)
Before you cancel anything, forward your calls to the new service and make three test calls of your own: a new customer, an urgent problem and a wrong number.
How we checked this
We make CoveDesk, so we’re not neutral, and this page isn’t a review. Everything about Abby Connect comes from its own website, read on November 3, 2026, with the pages linked below. We haven’t bought its service, and we don’t quote ratings or anyone’s opinion as fact. Where we couldn’t find a fact, we say so instead of guessing, and “not mentioned” means not on the pages we read, which isn’t a search of its whole site.
