Snow removal contract template: per push or by the season

The short answer

A snow removal contract sets the trigger depth that brings you out, the areas you’ll clear, the price per push or for the season, salt, damage and who marks what. It should also say what you don’t promise, such as a site free of ice at all times. Edit the wording below, and print it or save the PDF to sign before the first snow.

Get it signed before the first storm. A clear trigger depth and a clear limit on what you promise protect you both.

Only promise what you can keep. Leave it empty to leave it out.
This version doesn’t renew on its own. Some states have rules for agreements that do.

What’s covered

We plow the areas marked on the site notes when snowfall reaches the trigger depth written here: ____ inches. We come once it reaches that depth, and clear again after the storm ends if more has fallen. Service runs for the season dates above.

What’s not covered

Roofs, hauling snow off site, walks unless listed above, damage to items hidden under snow, and ice that forms between visits. Customer marks curbs, gates and anything else we could hit before the first snowfall. This agreement isn't a warranty or insurance, and it doesn't promise a site free of snow or ice at all times.

What the customer gets for signing up

Priority scheduling ahead of non-agreement customers, and we'll remind you when your next visit is due.

Payment

Customer pays the total above when this agreement is signed. Repairs outside this agreement are quoted and approved before we do them.

How long it lasts

This agreement runs from the start date to the end date above. It renews only if we both agree in writing.

Cancelling

Either of us can cancel with 30 days' written notice. We'll refund the unused part of the price, less any visits already made at our regular rate.

Access and safety

Customer gives us safe access to the equipment on the agreed visit dates. If a visit has to be moved, either of us will give as much notice as we can.

How it works

What to settle before the first storm

  • Trigger depth: how many inches brings you out
  • Pricing: per push, per visit, or a seasonal price
  • Areas: driveway, walks, lot. A marked-up photo helps
  • Markers: who marks curbs, gates and anything under the snow
  • Salt: included, or per application
  • Ice and slips: what you do and don’t promise

Slip-and-fall claims are a real risk on commercial sites, and some states have rules on what snow contracts can say about liability. Speak to your insurer and an attorney about those clauses, because this template isn’t legal advice. Set your price with the snow removal pricing calculator.

Common questions

What should a snow removal contract include?
Dates of service, trigger depth, the areas covered, price, salt, what’s not included, damage and marking, how long it runs and signatures.
Per push or seasonal: which is better?
Per push earns more in a heavy winter, and the customer carries the risk. A seasonal price gives you both a known number, but you carry the risk of a heavy year.
What is a trigger depth?
The amount of snow that brings you out, such as 2 inches. Below it you don’t come, unless they ask.
Am I liable if someone slips?
It depends on your state, your contract and the facts. Ask your insurer and an attorney, particularly for commercial sites.
Is this template free?
Yes. No sign-up and no watermark. It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is stored or sent to us. Print it or save it as a PDF before you close the page.
