Google Business Profile verification: methods and how long it takes
The short answer
To verify a Google Business Profile, sign in, find your business and follow the options Google offers, which can include phone or text, email, a live video call, a video recording or mail. Google chooses the methods from your business type, public info, region and hours, and you can’t change them. Reviews take up to 5 business days, and occasionally longer.
Verification is what lets you edit your profile and reply to customers. Google decides which methods you get, so here’s what to expect with each one and what to do when it stalls.

How verification works
- Find your business: sign in to the account tied to it, and search your name and city or “my business”.
- Choose from the options shown. You may need more than one.
- Wait for the review: up to 5 business days, and occasionally longer.
- Look for the confirmation email, then add anyone who helps manage your profile.
The methods
| Method | What helps |
|---|---|
| Video recording | Google recommends this if you’re eligible. Show your signage, your tools or vehicle with your branding, and proof you manage the business. |
| Phone or text | Have the listed phone nearby when you ask for the code. |
| Use an address you can open now, and look in spam. | |
| Live video call | Set aside time, and have the same proof ready. |
| Check that the address is exact, and don’t edit your profile while you wait. |
The advice on what helps is ours, from what makes each step go smoothly. Follow whatever Google’s prompts ask for. Some businesses get verified instantly, which Google says (opens in a new tab) can happen after you verify your website through Search Console, or with bulk verification.
When it goes wrong
- “Get verified” comes back: Google found an issue, so check your info and re-verify.
- A “Review issues” notice: open it, and fix what it names.
- More info requested: send exactly what it asks for.
- Still stuck: Google points to its Business Profile community for help.
Don’t create a second profile to get around a problem. Duplicates tend to make things worse.
